Incoming / Outgoing 777 services
In November 1996 the prototype 777 visited YVR for celebrating the opening of YVR's new runway.
One of the 77W's prototypes flew to St. John's in November 2003 for testing its handling in severe crosswind conditions.
In 1997 the first commercial flights to a canadian city were flown by BA. AF and KE followed in 1998.
In summer 2004 All Nippon Airways had several charter flights to Calgary.
In spring 2007 Air Canada has received its first 777s. Emirates has started flights to YYZ in late October 2007.
In September 2001 many 777 flights had to divert to canadian airports. Airports like Edmonton had the rare sights of 777s, due to the closure of
the us-airspace.
Canadian airports also serve as diverting points for flights:
In March 2004 there was an United 777 stuck in Yellowknife due to an engine problem.
In winter 2002 an AF 777 had to divert to Churchill, due to a malfunction in the windshield de-ice system. The people had to deboard the plane via
the planes emergency chutes, because the airport had no 777-suitable stairs, to reach the doors of a Boeing 777.
