About
Singapore Airlines ordered their 777s on 27th June 2000. This order was for 772ERs and 773s.
With a number of those 772ERs being delivered with decreased power. Those 777s are operating in Asia.
The first 777 delivery was right in time for SIA's 50th aniversary. Therefore they were nick-named "JUBILEE", this name has gone
already due to a new CEO at SIA.
The 1st "normal" 77Es was delivered in 2001 and later started the route from SIN via AMS to ORD.
On the latter part of this flight I had my 1st flight on a 777. In May 2002, as a gift for my "Abitur". On AMS-ORD I flew onboard 9VSVF and the return
was on 9VSVD. I really enjoyed the flights and the IFE was really great.
Originally, SIA's 77Ws were planned to come into the fleet after the introduction of SIA's A380. But, due to the major problems and the
resulting delivery delays the 77W came first. So, SIA's new class concept was introduced to the public onboard the 777-300ER.
