Philippines have placed the order for 777s on 12th March 2007 and increased this order in late May to four.
PR is also leasing another two 777-300ERs from GECAS.
"The acquisition of the Boeing 777-300ER allows PAL to expand direct services between the Philippines and the United States,"
said Jaime J. Bautista, president of Philippine Airlines during the order ceremony.
"Our passengers will also benefit from the higher level of comfort and amenities that this high-technology aircraft brings."
Boeing, Philippines and three non-profits leveraged this delivery to bring relief to residents who were recently devastated by the massive floods
from Typhoon Ketsana. They have flown nearly 18,000 pounds of medical supplies and packaged meals into the cargo hold of Phillipines first 777-300ER.
