About

EgyptAir has ordered its 777s on 23rd August 1995.
MS was the first (SAA had ordered also T7s but later cancelled this order) african airline which has ordered the Triple Seven. Kenya Airways, TAAG Angola Airlines and Ethiopian Airlines have also joined the club of "African airlines operating Boeing 777s".
In late 2007 EgyptAir decided to lease 77Ws for expansion:
“These new Boeing 777-300ER aircraft will allow us to further grow our long-haul routes and offer more premium service to our customers. We are also pleased to begin a new working relationship with GECAS.” Said Captain Sherif Galal, Chairman/ CEO EgyptAir.
