EL AL has placed the first order for Boeing 777s on 14th December 1999.
Before this order there was a long process of evaluating the right choice of airplane for EL AL's need.
In March 2000 the first 777 was delivered to EL AL.
ECE and ECF are equipped with EL AL's new cabin product, with "seats to full-flat-beds" in First and Platinum class, a high quality IFE-program,
and a new special meal services developed for the new 777s. As of March 2008 all six 777s will be flying in this new cabin configuration.
EL AL has named its 777s after geographic features in Israel: ECA - Galilee, ECB - Negev, ECC - Hasharon,
ECD - Carmel, ECE - Sderot and ECF- Kiryat Shmona.
