About
KLM has ordered the first 777s on 26th August 2002.
This order was also the launch for the Class 3 EFB-equipped 777s.
KLM's 777-200ERs are named after UNESCO world heritages.
Except, BQA which is named after one of KLM's founders - Albert Plesman. The other names are:
BQB - Borobodur, BQC - Chichen Itza, BQD - Darjeeling Railway, BQE - Epidaurus, BQF - Ferrara City,
BQG - Galapagos Islands, BQH - Hadrian's Wall, BQI - Iguazu Park, BQK - Kilimanjaro Park,
BQL - Litomysl Castle, BQM - Macchu Pichu, BQN - Nahanni National Park,
BQO - Old Rauma, BQP - Pont du Gard.
In the late morning of 13 Feb 2008, KLM's first 77W arrived at AMS after cycling a bit above the Northsea, due to thick fog at AMS.
KLM's 777-300ERs are named after famous National Parks.
