Gulf Air was one of the earliest customers for the 777.
Due to economic problems GulfAir was forced to cancel the order later.
In early 2009 Gulf Air was attracted by some of Jet Airways' 77Ws which were available on the market for lease (3.5 years).
"The introduction of these four aircraft is another important step in our strategic direction towards re-fleeting,
enhancing our product and strengthening our presence as the carrier of choice in the Middle East and beyond," says Gulf Air Chief Executive
Officer Mr. Björn Näf.
"In addition it will further strengthen our successful hub-and-spoke network and our operational efficiency while offering enhanced passenger
comfort and flying experience". After six months in service, the 77W was declared too large for GulfAir.
