About
The bangladeshi carrier has ordered its 777-300ERs on 22 April 2008. First delivery is expected to be in 2013.
The 77Ws were ordered for fleet renewal and expansion.
"Clearly, Biman needs modern, fuel-efficient and reliable airplanes to move forward with our expansion and better serve our country's growing
travel needs. Our competitive assessment of both the 777-300ER and the 787-8 Dreamliner was extensive and has led to our making the very best
decision based on our own defined operational parameters. We have selected the best airplanes to fulfill our mission requirements - and that
mission is the continued growth and success of Biman Bangladesh Airlines." said Dr. M. A. Momen, Biman's managing director during the
order ceremony.
"Before arrival of the new aircraft, Biman will have four Boeing 777 aircraft on lease to meet the aircraft shortage and Boeing will provide
necessary assistance in this regard." said Mahbub, chairman of Biman's board of directors.
The leased 777s will come to Biman in 2010. They are ex-Singapore Airlines and are operated by euroAtlantic Airways, Portugal.
