American Airlines ordered the first 777s on 21. November 1996, but increased the order in the following years to 53.
In 2006 AA leased one of their T7s back to Boeing. Boeing has done a lot of tests with systems that will be used for the 787 onboard this leased 777.
AA is currently undergoing (July'07 - May'08) a major refit to the T7 cabins. Each 777 gets the FlagshipSuites in F, next-generation Bizclass seats and a
new IFE (Rockwell Collins).
